1. Tell us a bit about yourself and about your current profession. What were you
doing before you started out on your own?
I am a crazy artist constantly at work and redefining my boundaries. Prior to being an artist I was a full time Mom and a freelance teacher.
2. When did you start your company? Where? And what motivated you to start it? What was your initial investment?
I started my company about 8 years ago….my art was being appreciated and it made sense to start letting go of it for a price. I did a hippy sale in U.S. Portland Saturday market and that got me the whiff of wanting a life as an artist. My investment was huge in terms of material.
3. What have been your achievements, accolades and upturns in your career?
For an artist I am still on the threshold of my career hence will answer this in a few years time.
4. Any downturns, Unusual circumstances, hardships, you have had to face in your profession/business?
All the time….trying to get recognition as an artist is not easy but it’s a learning experience…and I love every trail that comes along.
5. How do you balance your personal and professional life? How many kids do you
have? What are your usual activities with them?
I have two adorable kids and my work life is flexible as I work when they are away at school or down at the playground. I rarely watch Television and that is the time I use for my work. I am not hooked to any series what so ever. My kids love to see me work and sometimes I let them paint on their pads while I am at work in my studio at home. We do kitchen bonding together and as a teacher I do take very active roles in their studies. Their father travels a lot so often I bring them out for kite flying or cycling. We even do yoga sessions together.
6. How do you spend your “Alone” time. Any hobbies, activities, groups you are associated with.
My “me Time” would be some retail therapy. I have turned my hobby into my profession so I love that. I also do volunteer with the Art of Living on various programes as my time permits.
7. Were you working before having children? Have things changed in the way you work today after having children?
I used to work in a multinational and I hated my desk job. I love the freedom my wok allows me today and I am my own boss.
8. Do you receive understanding from your family as a business woman? If not, how did tackle such situations.
I would not have been here without the support of my husband who takes care ofso many things for me.
I am truly blessed to have his support.
9. What would you recommend to other mothers who want to venture out on their own?
Live your dream…life is too short to brood. And be happy at all times.
10. What do you have in the pipeline for your company’s future development?
Shhhhhh! Cannot reveal.
11. What/Who has been your inspiration?
Once again there have been many inspirations in these 37 years of my life. Most powerful women who live life on their terms are my inspiration to me.
12. Did you always know that you would be doing what you are doing today?
Not really.
